Hardly there is a difference between taking a breath and having a distended stomach. Why even say such a thing? Distended lol god you are outta touch. Truly oppressed people want to escape their oppressors… So why are they following us. Get the fuck away from us and start your own state. Lee Haney had a great back, but the man had No hamstrings, calves, and sub par triceps.
But the judges loved his tiny waste and V taper. I think Berry Demay had the best package when he was a little heavier the year before in Take a look at the 85 Olympia, Haney was at his best! The days before insulin and SEO.
Best spokesman of bodybuilding in my opinion and an awesome Mr O. He was the man! He was huge, great lines and what bodybuilding is all about. Its gotten to be an ugly bloated sport and not fun anymore. Feel bad for luiz freitas, when he said his dad disowned him when he was 5. I get it was a different time but I hate hearing about that stuff. I think Lee is just lucky Matt mendenhall never got a fair shake. He said himself he would lose.
Lee is deserving of the Olympia tho. Second favorite after Arnie. IMO Haney had the greatest most muscular pose of all time. A year earlier in Haneys legs and arms seemed really full and thick.
In his legs and calves seemed to deflate. He really filled out and was a beast when he went to Vince McMahon failed WBF I think it was called but they only had 1 show and he won it.
I love the sport, but I could care less if I had a terrible physique and trained at these gyms. Back then gyms were the definition of a man cave. Pure energy, and just a brotherhood type of relationship with everyone. Hard training, excellent form, technique, the list just goes on. Today all people concern themselves with is taking selfies and being that fitness icon in the group of people they know.
It is only until their ego is shattered due to someone else looking like them or better. I just crave a hardcore gym so bad that I have a longterm goal of opening a gritty gym with everything a bodybuilder could dream of, and simply a place that is like a dungeon, where people go not to train, but to forge their physiques.
I want people to come in with that passion to train, and have a craving to stay in the gym as long as these legends did. Enough photos, ego lifting, all that crap. Unfortunately the gyms will never be the same: Hopefully I can make a change.
But the question is to create his physique what percentage of that comes from training, and what percentage of that comes from nutrition.
The two things are separate. That was a stupid answer showing that he did not understand the original question. That is what bodybuilding is all about. Friendly rivalry dedication putting everything on show. Nowadays bodybuilders are segrigated from each other all wrapped up. The 70s and 80s was the best years for the greatest sport in history.
Dorian Yates started the monster era. The competitors here was quickly forgotten and yes Lee Haney too. I think Lee Haney may have been the transition guy from aesthetics to mass. He was aesthetic, but the mass was definitely there, and then Yates just went straight mass when he took up the mantle. One of the best Olympias period…Paris had the best posing routine ever. Sad he no idea how to pose. Very photo genic also.
He skipped back day work out each and everyday.. Haney was a better a poser than given credit for. He was smooth in transitions. He never shakes with flexing his muscles and holds the poses well.
He smiles genuinely and carry himself with a confidence. The mark of of Champions. Although, Hany had an excellent balance of muscles and conditioning which especially in He was the only Mr Olympia who went out on a high at a still very young and healthy age. Out of contest shape Strydoms back was far wider. I think it was the body part that suffered most when he got shredded… I think the next year in the??? WBF his back looked far better. Priceless it almost even sounded like Arnold swastika as well, guess his parents liked the third reich and was a hitler fan…lmmfao.
I think if he trained it with Dorian like intensity, it would have improved. Now, guys do a set, look at phone, do a set. Take loads of drugs and look like bloated whales. The Olympia setup was better in the 80s for crying out loud!!! Why tf does today look like a poor version of this? Not even close! Lighting was also great. Hopefully the new runners of the Olympia can change it back to this. Thanks a lot for making all these videos! I started training in and i grew up with all these guys!
In my humble opinion, Gaspari edged out Haney that year, not by much but he was complete all round. Berry had the DNA to go all the way. WBF also a career ender.

Muhammad Ali. I agree with the comment below. Wayne When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me. Click Here!
